Da Nang has always been famous as one of the top tourist cities in Vietnam, consistently attracting an increasing number of visitors each year. One of the main reasons for this is the city’s scenic beauty and clean, fresh environment, exemplified by streets like Bach Dang Street. Here, tourists can freely enjoy the dreamy, enchanting sights of Da Nang, accompanied by soft, melodious music that soothes the soul and alleviates all the stress and fatigue after a long, hard day of work.

Bach Dang – the most beautiful walking street in Da Nang

This street runs along the poetic banks of the Han River, forming a graceful curve around the city. It used to stretch from Cham Museum to the river’s mouth, and now extends to Tieu La Street, 2.9 Street, out to National Highway 1A in the southwest, and Nguyen Tat Thanh Street along the coast in the northeast, reaching up to the majestic Hai Van Pass.

Bach Dang – the most beautiful walking street in Da Nang

This is the special title given to Bach Dang Street by the city’s residents. The street faces the Han River, the symbol of Da Nang, and runs alongside all the bridges, which are the pride of the city. Standing on Bach Dang Street, one can also take in many of Da Nang’s beautiful sights, such as the misty Son Tra mountains in the early morning, the Hai Van mountains appearing and disappearing in the mystical white clouds, and the Han River shimmering under the clear blue sky.

Moreover, Bach Dang Street has been invested with a sophisticated pavement system, featuring green trees, flower beds, stone statues, greenery, and meticulously decorated chandeliers. Each night, as the city lights up, the street becomes radiant and sparkling, attracting not only tourists but also the local residents, even though this street is very familiar to them.

A Place of Dynamic Living

The street starts its bustling life early in the morning, with people busy buying and selling goods near Han Market. Residents from nearby areas gather along the banks of the Han River to exercise and take leisurely walks to breathe in the fresh air. However, it is in the afternoons and evenings that the street truly comes alive, especially when the elderly gather around to play Chinese chess. Here, Chinese chess is known as “village chess,” because although only two people officially play, the whole “village” surrounds them. Everyone is free to comment, advise on moves, and even sketch imaginary moves right on the board, sharing in the joy of a clever move or a humorous remark. There’s no winning or losing, no arguing, no luck involved—just the lively and intellectual spirit of “village chess” that attracts not only the elderly but also students, connecting strangers with friendly smiles.

In particular, this place regularly hosts activities such as dancing, sports, hip-hop, and skating every evening. These events draw the attention of many people. In the glow of lights and the sound of music, this vibrant street lifts even the saddest spirits, inviting everyone to immerse themselves in its lively atmosphere.

The Street with the Most Bars and Cafes in Da Nang

Bach Dang Street in Da Nang is famous for its numerous bars and cafes, attracting both locals and tourists with its beauty and unique atmosphere. Strolling along this street, you’ll find a harmonious blend of classical and elegant styles in the establishments, providing a sense of peace and relaxation.

The cafes on Bach Dang are not only places to enjoy delicious cups of coffee but also spots to find a moment of tranquility amidst the city’s bustle. These cafes often have cozy atmospheres, with gentle music such as rock, jazz, or classical instrumental, creating an ideal space for contemplation and relaxation. Notably, some venues offer live music with guitar performances and soulful songs, enough to touch the hearts of even the most stoic individuals.

If you prefer a quieter ambiance, visit the bars around 11 AM, sip on a cocktail, and watch the bustling streets. The morning atmosphere on Bach Dang Street is quite special, providing an oddly peaceful feeling amidst the busy city. The experience of watching people pass by, immersing yourself in the musical environment, and enjoying moments of relaxation will surely be an unforgettable experience when visiting Da Nang.

Festive Bustle

To enrich the spiritual life of the residents, the city authorities annually invest in a grand flower street with thousands of pots of flowers in countless colors. All of them bloom brightly along the poetic Han River, captivating both locals and tourists during the year-end days. The youth of Da Nang and neighboring areas eagerly dress up and gather to take stunning photos, capturing beautiful memories for themselves.

Located on the summit of Thuy Son, known as the largest and most beautiful mountain in the Marble Mountains scenic complex, Non Nuoc Pagoda in Da Nang is an ancient temple, carrying within it a mysterious and sacred beauty. Therefore, during trips to Da Nang, many tourists have visited the pagoda to sightsee, pray, and hear fascinating legends surrounding this exquisite temple.

Introducing briefly about Non Nuoc Pagoda in Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang:

Non Nuoc Pagoda, also known as Non Nuoc Pagoda, is situated within the scenic complex of Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) in Da Nang. It is considered both a spiritual center and a famous landmark of Da Nang. Besides its name Non Nuoc Pagoda, the pagoda is also known as Ngu Hanh Son Pagoda or Outer Pagoda, while Tam Thai Pagoda is referred to as Inner Pagoda. It is known that Non Nuoc Pagoda is the earliest among the three Linh Ung Pagodas in Da Nang.

Non Nuoc Pagoda in Ngu Hanh Son, Da Nang

According to historical records, in 1825, during the reign of the 6th Emperor Minh Mang, when Tam Thai Pagoda was rebuilt, it was also the time when Non Nuoc Pagoda was constructed. A plaque was installed with the inscription “Ngự chế Ứng Chơn Tự, Minh Mạng lục niên phụng tạo” (Emperor Minh Mang’s sixth year of reign, creating the Linh Ung Pagoda). Thus, initially, when it was newly built, the pagoda was named Ứng Chơn. Then, in 1891, during the reign of the 3rd Emperor Thanh Thai, it was renamed Linh Ung Pagoda, with the inscription “Cải tứ Linh Ứng Tự, Thành Thái Tam Niên” (Emperor Thanh Thai’s third year of reign, renovating the Linh Ung Pagoda). This name has been retained until today without any changes.

The history of the formation of Non Nuoc Pagoda in Da Nang:

Emerging in 1825 and spanning several centuries with many historical upheavals, Non Nuoc Pagoda has undergone numerous renovations. According to historical records, the precursor of the pagoda was a cave named Tang Chon, dating back to the first half of the 17th century. A virtuous person established a meditation area in front of the cave, called Duong Chon Am. Later, through renovation and transformation, it became Duong Chon Duong. Subsequently, Emperor Gia Long arrived and renamed it Ngự chế Ứng Chơn Tư.

The Non Nuoc Pagoda in Da Nang is over 300 years old

During the reign of Emperor Minh Mang, he rebuilt the pagoda with sturdy and elegant tiled bricks, naming it Ứng Chơn Tư. At this time, he also constructed two stone stairways leading up the mountain, with the western one consisting of 156 steps leading to Tam Thai Pagoda, and the eastern one consisting of 108 steps leading to Ứng Chơn Pagoda. These stairways are still in use today.

Over three centuries, along with the period of wars with France and the United States, and enduring severe natural disasters that the Central Region had to endure, Non Nuoc Pagoda suffered significant damage. However, through various restoration efforts, the pagoda has preserved many of its original architectural features until now. Especially notable are the two golden plaques bestowed by Emperor Minh Mang and Emperor Thanh Thai.

Reasons to Visit Non Nuoc Pagoda in Da Nang:

Non Nuoc Pagoda is a place that preserves remarkable cultural and historical values.
